Project Support for Condominium Associations to Participate in the Energy Efficiency of Multi-Family Residential Buildings National Programme

Project Goals:

Support for condominium associations for the renovation of multi-family residential buildings through the implementation of energy efficiency measures:

• Provision of better living conditions for citizens in multi-family residential buildings, thermal comfort and higher quality of the living environment.
• Reduction of energy costs and improvement of the operational characteristics to extend the life cycle of buildings.

Target Groups:

• Condominium associations throughout the country, which have submitted documents for the renovation of the buildings under the program.
• Employees at post offices or apartment tenants in residential buildings where the company owns property.

Budget of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works

Energy Efficiency of Multi-Family Residential Buildings National Programme (the Programme), on the terms and procedures for provision of grants under the program and for designation of the authorities responsible for its implementation.

Project Activities: 

Eligibility criteria: multi-family residential buildings designed before 26 April 1999, having three or more floors with 6 (six) or more detached residential buildings.

Eligible activities:

• Structural support/reinforcement/overhaul activities depending on the damage that occurred during the exploatation of the multi-family residential buildings which are prescribed as mandatory during the technical inspection.
• Renovation of the common parts of multi-family residential buildings.
• Implementation of energy efficiency measures prescribed as mandatory during the energy efficiency audit.

 Results:

• Bulgarian Posts Plc has supported 26 condominium associations to participate in the program for buildings in which the company owns property: Popovo, Sofia, Plovdiv, Karlovo, Varna, Borino, Lovech, Kyustendil, Sevlievo, Tryavna, Dimitrovgrad, Blagoevgrad, Sandanski, Velingrad, Dupnitsa, Burgas, Razgrad, Kazanlak, Smolyan and Pernik.
• Completed buildings: post offices in Popovo and Karlovo, and two apartments in Stara Zagora.
• Signed contracts with the Bulgarian Development Bank: Sofia, “Druzhba 2” residential district, Bl. 304; Plovdiv, “Trakia” residential district, Bl. 26, and Varna, “Mladost” residential district, Bl. 120.

The Programme activities are implemented on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria within 265 municipalities.
