LETTER POST ITEMS AND PARCELS

Non-registered postal items are delivered to the recipients' postboxes, to post offices if they are addressed as "poste restante/on demand" against an identity document, or to a postbox rented by the recipient at a post office if the items is addressed to a "subscription mailbox".

 

Items that cannot be delivered to the postbox due to their size are delivered to the address. When the item cannot be delivered during the visit to the address due to the recipient's absence, a written notice is left in the recipient's postbox inviting them to collect the item at the post office of delivery. The delivery time is 20 days from the date of receipt of the item at the post office. If the recipient does not come within 10 calendar days from the date of receipt of a non-registered postal item at the post office, a second written notice is sent.

 

If the recipient's phone number is written on the item, they can be notified with an SMS notification.

 

Registered postal items are delivered to the recipient's address against signature and an identity document, as well as to post offices, if they are addressed as "poste restante/on demand" or to a "subscription mailbox".


In the absence of the recipient, the item can be delivered to a person authorized by them, and when there is no express indication on the item "in person to the recipient", it can also be delivered to an adult member of the recipient's household living at the address indicated on the item, against signature and an identity document.

Delivery of insured items is made only at the post office.


When delivering registered postal items with an advice of delivery, the recipient also fills in the advice.


Delivery of insured and non-insured parcels is carried out at the post office, and the recipients are notified by Bulgarian Posts with a written notice, which is delivered as per the procedures for registered items. The delivery time is 20 days from the date of receipt of the parcel at the post office. If the recipient does not come within 10 calendar days from the date of receipt of the parcel at the post office, a second written notice is sent.

 

If the recipient's phone number is written on the item, they can be notified with an SMS notification.

 

For each postal parcel not received within nine calendar days from the date of registration of the parcel at the post office, a storage fee applies according to Bulgarian Posts' prices.

 

Registered and non-registered items and parcels not delivered within 20 days from the date of their receipt at the post office are returned to the senders.


Postal items and parcels that cannot be delivered because of the following reasons are immediately returned to senders:  the recipients refuse to receive them or pay the cash on delivery amount or the prices and receivables for the customs items; the items went to an unknown address, the recipients are unknown at the indicated address, the indicated address is insufficient or does not exist.
