BULGARIAN POSTS CELEBRATES THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SOFIA PHILATELIC SOCIETY WITH A NEW PHILATELIC EDITION

On November 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sofia Philatelists' Club, 7 Han Krum Street, Sofia, Bulgarian Posts will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Sofia Philatelic Society with a new philatelic edition.

On the occasion of the anniversary, the postal administration presents a new edition of the series "Famous Bulgarians - Philatelists". The stamp is dedicated to Petko Karaivanov - the only internationally recognized Bulgarian philatelic expert and patron of the society.

Тhe portrait and the entire graphic design were created by the portrait artist Rosen Toshev. The work is based on a family photograph from 1926, and one of the four famous unperforated 25-cent stamps - among the rarest European classic issues - is included in the background. The block list features the emblems of the Union of Bulgarian Philatelists and the Sofia Philatelic Society "Petko V. Karaivanov".

Bulgarian Posts joins the celebrations on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Sofia Philatelic Society, founded on November 27, 1925. The society marked a new beginning in the development of collecting in Bulgaria after the First World War and became the basis for the establishment of the Union of Bulgarian Philatelists thirteen years later.

The Bulgarian postal administration has actively cooperated with the organized philatelic movement in the country since the dawn of its creation, and the postage stamp has always been the bridge between the two communities.
